It is such a special time for the expecting parents and for their loved ones around them.
I like to attend baby showers with a unique gift for the mother to be, as they are the ones doing all the hard work for now and deserve to be showered with gifts. As a mother myself I know the importance of treating yourself before the new arrival.
Space NK is a good place to start your search. Their make-up is luxurious and they sell an array of home pampering products to use during your pregnancy and after the baby is born, including the wonderful Mama Mio range created by obstetricians to help look after your tired skin. I always think an item from Chanel is the ultimate treat, the packaging is chic which adds to the thrill of the gift, a colour pop nail varnish to brighten up those ever disappearing toes is always welcome!
Before the baby arrives is also the last bit of time a mother will have to herself for a while so, I may indulge my friend with a fun book about romance or adventure. There are also so many useful baby books out there, these are my Top 5;
- “The wonder weeks” by Hetty van de Rijt and Frans X. Plooij
- “I Know How She Does It: How Successful Women Make the Most of their Time” by Laura Vanderkam
- “The Happiest Toddler on the Block: How to Eliminate Tantrums and Raise a Patient, Respectful, and Cooperative One- to Four-Year-Old” by Harvey Karp
- “French Children Don’t Throw Food” by Pamela Druckerman
- “The Contented Little Baby book” by Gina Ford
It is exciting to buy something for the baby too, if you just can’t wait until he or she is born. There are so many delicate outfits and soft toys which make the perfect gift. However, I like to think of something that may be more unusual. There are lots of super soft and snuggly blankets to choose from. Aden and Anais do an eye-catching selection of blankets and swaddles. Perhaps you want to surprise your friend with a gift for the nursery, a beautiful and bespoke water colour could be the ultimate gift or there are many early learning toys that are chic and functional!
